For some strange reason, the Formula 1 drivers' salary list, this time published by Forbes magazine, always attracts great interest.
The business magazine Forbes today published its "estimate" of the base salaries and bonuses, in US dollars, of the ten drivers who earned the most in the world championship this year. Topping the list is four-time world champion Max Verstappen, who can boast $75 million.
Lewis Hamilton has nothing to be ashamed of either, but Lando Norris, who sits at the bottom of the imaginary earnings podium, is already abysmally far behind the top two. It's interesting to note how heavily bonuses influence the total. There are also some oddities, such as how Carlos Sainz Jr. or Pierre Gasly can fall behind Sergio Perez, but Oscar Piastri's low base salary is also more than astonishing...
Below is the list of the ten:
Pilot Base Salary / Bonus / Total Income
1. Max Verstappen 60 / 15 / 75
2. Lewis Hamilton 55 / 2 / 57
3. Lando Norris 12 / 23 / 35
4. Fernando Alonso 24 / 3.5 / 27.5
5. Charles Leclerc 12/15/27
6. George Russell 15/8/23
7. Oscar Piastri 5/17/22
8. Sergio Perez 12 / 7.5 / 19.5
9. Carlos Sainz Jr. 10/9/19
10. Pierre Gasly 10/2/12
