South Africa is waging a vigorous campaign to return to Formula 1, and not just in terms of news. That's why the country's Minister of Sports has formed a committee that will select the promoter with whom the country can submit its bid in the coming months.
It seems that Kyalami, a venue no stranger to F1, could be the winner. Gayton McKenzie, the Minister of Sport, is already preparing for 2027, believing that the conditions for hosting could be met by then:
"The committee set up will determine the conditions of the bid. They must submit to the state by the end of February a proposal for a venue that will certainly not shame the country and that will host the best possible race given the circumstances. What venue that will be, we don't know yet, but I want to add that Kyalami has its history and also has the necessary infrastructure. Just look at the climate, look at the roads, we can easily envisage a street race. There are investors willing to allocate funds to it, so I think everything is in place..." - said the protagonist most involved in this affair.
