In recent weeks, Aston Martin's "alleged" contract offer to lure Max Verstappen has generated considerable buzz. According to Günther Steiner, his efforts will be successful because the sum involved is unimaginable...
While there is currently no guarantee that Aston Martin will become a world-class team, there are signs that point in that direction. Steiner believes Verstappen will accept the offer even if the Greens are not competitive:
"A billion is a huge figure. Even if Max were last, he would do it immediately for a billion. Few teams can afford it, but Aston can clearly do it; they can put a billion-dollar salary on the table. It's a high level, an absolute record in the history of F1, probably no one will ever beat it. I mean, if it's real, and not just speculation... I don't think it is. The reason I don't think it will materialize is because of the current driver duo. Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll have contracts until 2026, I don't think Fernando would leave, and I don't believe Lawrence Stroll would sacrifice his own son on the altar of business. However, from 2027 onwards, the situation will be completely different..." - Steiner left the door open.
