We all remember the chaos of last year's Brazilian Grand Prix, the postponed qualifying sessions, the crashes. Well, it's not all without consequences...
Therefore, a new rule has been introduced regarding qualifying in F1. Regarding the quality mentioned in the introduction, the biggest debate has been over how and on what basis the starting grid will be determined if it is not possible to maintain it.
The reaction to last year's events is already evident here, in that if a similar situation arises from 2025 onwards, i.e. if a situation arises where it is not possible to hold qualifying, then the rule is that the drivers will start according to the state of the individual world championship standings.
But what if all this happens at the very first race of the year, when the world championship standings have yet to be determined? Well, in that case, the next option is for the starting grid to be determined by the FIA race stewards. How they will do this, and according to what guidelines, remains to be seen, but perhaps it goes without saying that with this decision, they are setting the stage for some incredible debates...
