Although a few months ago we didn't see much chance of this happening, it seems increasingly likely that after a break, Sergio Perez's Formula 1 career is not over.
It's clear that if the driver has a chance anywhere, it's with the upcoming Cadillac team, where they're still awaiting official approval from FOM and the FIA. However, considerable efforts are already underway behind the scenes at all levels. 2026 is fast approaching, and as we know, no racing car goes racing without a driver. Based on this, Sergio Perez is emerging, who apparently isn't standing still and is already in advanced talks with Andretti's team. As a newcomer, the Americans are certainly focusing on experience, and guided by this, they're collaborating with Ferrari on the engine, before General Motors takes over this area and the team in 2028. For Cadillac, the American impact is essential, not only in terms of the name, but also in financial support and thinking locally about the drivers' identities.
The Andrettis will play a significant role in choosing the driver lineup, and it is well known that the Perezes have a good relationship with them. Therefore, anyone betting big on the Sergio Perez-Colton Herta driver duo, which enjoys enormous popularity across the Atlantic, is not taking much of a risk.
