I think he doesn't even really know where the front is anymore; he's in real trouble. His gap is too great, and it looks more and more like he won't be able to overcome this burden on his own. Also, his self-confidence also seems to be plummeting, which is totally unusual for him...
These are very bad signs for the rest of the season. He's a driver who needs confidence and faith in the car, and those two things don't seem to be there at all. I don't think he'll be able to resolve this situation... As I said, if you get 30 seconds from your teammate, it's very demoralizing. Apart from the sprint qualifying in China, he's finished behind Leclerc every time, and by a considerable margin. Leclerc has snuck into his lead, and he's not going to leave anytime soon," concluded Giedo van der Garde.
