Even before the season began, it was known that this year's McLaren would be very strong. So strong that it could not only win the constructors' title, but also the individual world championship.
With this knowledge, most fans, and even the majority of pundits, have pegged Lando Norris as the favorite. Yet the young Briton struggles, while his younger teammate delivers victories with such cool confidence that it surprises even Max Verstappen. Norris knows why...
“Maybe I put too much pressure on myself. It's not because I'm fighting for the world title, that would be the case anyway. It's because I want to be good, really, really good! I want to get pole, I want to win races, I want to be perfect. And I make mistakes because I want to be perfect, but maybe I should accept the idea that nobody is perfect.
"I think I should calm down, have more confidence in myself, in my pace, because I know mine is the best. I'm completely sure I can win every race if I perform better in qualifying than I have so far. It's easy to say, but difficult to achieve, yet that's what I have to do: go out on the track and do a better job than I have done so far. That's what I'm going to work on!" - Norris promised himself.
