Montoya: "Collapinto must stay, Sainz must go to Red Bull!"

Montoya : « Collapinto doit rester, Sainz doit aller chez Red Bull ! »

Tóth Krisztián Márk |

Juan Pablo Montoya rarely speaks out, but when he does, it's always for a good reason. This time, it's no different; he couldn't stay silent in the face of former F1 driver Carlos Sainz's performance.

But the situation Montoya referred to is not that of a single man, as Franco Collapinto, who burst onto Formula 1 like a comet, also plays an important role. The Colombian driver did not forget to include him in his remarks:

"If I were Christian Horner or one of the bosses at Red Bull now, I would immediately go to Williams and tell them that if they are happy with Colapinto, then leave him with you, and let Sainz come to us. It would also do Franco good not to immediately find himself facing as big a challenge as Max Verstappen. He could even represent an even bigger risk than Sergio Perez. The latter is experienced, has race wins, knows the circumstances. Let's not forget how it happened for Alexander Albon, how he collapsed... And that's where Carlos Sainz comes in. It would be a challenge for Verstappen, a huge reinforcement in the constructors' battle, and what's more, they would also get a good financial benefit from it.

"If I were in Horner's shoes, I would choose Sainz, not Collapinto," Montoya said, probably speaking for many fans.
