Mexican Grand Prix, FP2: Sainz finishes first

Grand Prix du Mexique, FP2 : Sainz a terminé en tête

Tamás Jancsovics |

The Mexican Grand Prix continued with a special stage, where the field was able to test the 2025 Pirelli tires in the second session. We didn't escape the red flag this time either, as it was George Russell who destroyed the Mercedes.

No sooner had the free practice session begun than Russell lost control of his car coming out of a corner and suffered a serious accident. At that moment, we didn't suspect that this would be the "most exciting" moment of practice, nor did we know that we would have to worry about Russell's health, as he was complaining of rib pain. This was exactly the situation, while the Pirelli tire test proceeded in a monotonous, boring, and silent manner, with the drivers using unmarked tires. Thus, we didn't really know who was using which compound; something could be deduced only from the lap times. Only at the end of the session did a few medium tires appear here and there, but this was only done by those who hadn't participated in FP1, which didn't change the overall situation. Ultimately, Carlos Sainz won FP2 ahead of Oscar Piastri and Yuki Tsunoda, but today we didn't learn much about the forces present.
