Few laps, crashes, red-flag interruptions, George Russell's victory. In summary, this is what happened during the first practice session for the Mexican Grand Prix.
For his 400th race weekend, Fernando Alonso, already recovered but watching from the pits, was joined by five young drivers for FP1. Oliver Bearman of Scuderia Ferrari, Robert Schwartzman of Stak, Felipe Drugovich of Aston Martin, Patricio O'Ward of McLaren, and Andrea Kimi Antonelli of Mercedes all had the opportunity to take the wheel. The session had barely started when, due to debris on the track, a red flag was already raised. Antonelli managed to get through it, and luckily for the young Italian, his car was not damaged. No sooner had the session resumed than it had to be interrupted again, this time due to a serious accident between Bearman and Alexander Albon, who had a misunderstanding. Albon even stopped his car, and Ferrari also suffered damage. And what else happened during this practice session? Nothing really special, George Russell won this stage ahead of Carlos Sainz and Yuki Tsunoda.
