After Saturday's unacceptable comedy, qualifying for the Brazilian Grand Prix was made up for today, where Lando Norris took pole position.
In Q1, postponed until the following day, the field was greeted by conditions almost identical to those of the previous day. As a result, the first segment presented a picture of cautious trial and error, with many slides and accidents. Franco Collapinto was the first casualty, crashing into the wall, prompting a brief red flag phase. These circumstances were best interpreted by Max Verstappen, Alexander Albon, and George Russell, while those ultimately eliminated included Collapinto, Lewis Hamilton, Oliver Bearman, Nico Hülkenberg, and Zhou Guanyu.
We had barely reached the halfway point of Q2 when Carlos Sainz repeated Franco Colapinto's mistake, sending his Ferrari into the wall in almost the same spot as his Argentinian colleague. Another red flag followed... At that point, Oscar Piastri, George Russell, and Lance Stroll were leading, but it was predictable that with the arrival of the intermediate tires, this would not be the final order. Shortly after, Stroll's elimination triggered an avalanche of red flags. Alongside him, Valtteri Bottas, the two Red Bulls, Carlos Sainz, and Pierre Gasly also had to say goodbye, as despite having time remaining, this segment was not restarted. All this was beneficial for McLaren, especially for Norris...
Q3 turned into total chaos, with Alonso first crashing, then Albon destroying the Williams, and ultimately only seven drivers remained in the top 10. In the final clear minutes of qualifying, we could see continued improvements, with the trio of Lando Norris, George Russell and Yuki Tsunoda proving to be the fastest.
