Pierre Gasly has made a rather surprising prediction. The French driver believes that the lucky alignment of the stars, combined with the major rule changes of 2026, could make the Alpine a serious contender!
There is a consensus in the paddock that one of the most important elements of 2026, engine development, is dominated by Mercedes, which has extensive experience in this field. Pierre Gasly knows this well, just as he knows that if someone manages to achieve remarkable results in the powertrain field, they could have a serious chance in the final countdown. And from 2026, Mercedes will be Alpine's engine supplier.
“I’m very curious to see what happens next, because 2026 will be a huge opportunity, where I could even win the world championship. That’s why I’m preparing hard for next season. Don’t get me wrong, I’ll do everything in my power to be successful in 2025, but where I end up this year is absolutely irrelevant, I’m not interested. The team and I are aware of what we can achieve this year and what we can achieve next year, so we’ve already established the strategy we’re working on. As I said at the presentation in London, if I had to decide, I would put all our people and resources behind the 2026 program right now. We want to fight for podiums and victories next year, that’s our goal!” – the Frenchman said determinedly.
