Sergio Perez's position at Red Bull Racing is in jeopardy, it's no longer a secret. Names are emerging every day to replace him, and now Christian Fittipaldi has proposed an interesting idea.
Former Formula 1 driver Fittipaldi believes it is entirely possible that current Red Bull driver Oscar Piastri, tired of his second-in-command role, will leave McLaren at the end of the season and continue his career in place of Perez from 2025:
"Strange as it may seem, I don't think it's impossible for Oscar Piastri to leave McLaren at the end of the year and sign with Red Bull to replace Perez. By then, perhaps Piastri will have had enough of Lando Norris's support, his role as second driver, and decide to change on a whim," Fittipaldi reflected.
It may sound crazy, but there are several possibilities. One is that Piastri could end up driving the best car in the field and going up against the best driver in the championship. Red Bull would gain a great driver while seriously weakening its main rival, McLaren. It's a thought-provoking idea!
