Unusual news - thankfully, this time in a positive context - has made headlines regarding the famous Belgian racing circuit.
King Philippe of the Belgians has announced that this year the Kingdom of Belgium will issue a coin paying tribute to one of the most famous circuits in the world, if not the most famous.
In countries that use the euro, it is common practice to issue two types of 2-euro coins each year, each with a new design. The obverse side pays tribute to an important issue for the issuing country or for Europe.
In his statement, King Philippe also stated that the reverse of the "Euro Spa-Francorchamps" will feature the circuit's layout, with two numbers on the left side: 7004 and 1921. The first obviously symbolizes the current length of the circuit, while the second represents the year it opened, as it was in that year that races were organized for the first time. The (official) coin design has not yet been received, but it will not be amiss to be vigilant: you will be able to get a magnificent Formula 1 souvenir, and for free!
