Former driver: Hamilton will be slow at Ferrari

Ex pilote : Hamilton sera lent chez Ferrari

Tóth Krisztián Márk |

According to Lucas Di Grassi, Lewis Hamilton is already past his prime, which is why, if he were Ferrari, he would not have signed him.

In one area, Lewis Hamilton has suffered greatly in 2024, and it's no exaggeration to say he's experiencing the lowest point of his career so far. This concerns his qualifying performances, where he was soundly beaten this year by George Russell. According to Lucas di Grassi, who made his mark with the Renault F1 team and went on to win a Formula E title, all of this clearly shows that time has passed for Hamilton, who is expensive and slow, and someone else should have gotten that seat at Ferrari.

"If I were in Ferrari's shoes, I would never have signed Lewis Hamilton. He's expensive, he's already slow, he's definitely past his prime. Instead, I would have given the opportunity to someone who could really reach the top with the Scuderia.
His now insufficient speed is still compensated by his great experience, his good strategy, his excellent teamwork, the fact that he helps to develop the team and the setup, to better understand their car.

But after such a year, in which Ferrari proved they could develop on their own, I don't think they really need this. In the short term, Hamilton is good marketing, but if they really want to win a world championship, he's no longer their man," - harshly criticized the seven-time world champion Di Grassi.
