The World Motor Sport Council met, with the focus on reforming the existing points system.
The plan was to drastically intervene in the system, but this was ultimately abandoned. Instead, the awarding of additional points will be eliminated. This was introduced in 2019 for drivers who finished in the top 10 and set the fastest lap. This will no longer be the case from 2025. At the start of the season, it was agreed that, rather than the current top 10, drivers ranked 1 to 12 would receive points in the future.
Finally, after the current discussions, this was rejected, and the current system will remain in place with the mentioned changes.
